Jane Nicholson Obituary

Jane Gallagher Nicholson, 71, of Kingston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Dallas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry G. and Eileen Kane Gallagher. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, she also attended College Misericordia. After working in Philadelphia for several years Jane married her beloved husband George "Nick" Nicholson and settled in Kingston to start a family.

Later she began a career working with a friend at a local clothier, Hillard House. She followed her lifelong passion for and love of clothing and style and opened her own apparel shop named after her youngest daughter "Shelby" (1997-2010) where she joyfully dressed generations for their most important life events. She also enjoyed her time at Humphrey’s Children's Apparel and the Hoyt Library more recently.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Nelia Mooney and her husband Ted, of Villanova; Shelby Smith and her husband, Craig, of Forty Fort; Jack Nicholson and Sarah, of Kingston; and Andrew Nicholson and his wife, Nichele, of Lake Silkworth, along with her grandchildren Margaret and Marin Mooney; Charlotte, Natalie and Shepard Smith; Anabel Gifoli and Henry Nicholson; and Alli and Wyatt Nicholson; her seven brothers and sisters: Philip Gallagher, Mollie McNally, Michael Gallagher (Margaret), twin sister Anne Robinson, Brian Gallagher, Thomas Gallagher, Neal Gallagher and sister in law Lizabeth Gallagher. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, George; her parents, Henry and Eileen; brother Paul; brother in law Vincent McNally and sister in law Patricia Galen.
