Michael P. Rowlands

Michael P. Rowlands, of Kingston, passed away at home following an illness. Born July 28, 1980, Mike was the son of Roberta Van Burnt Rowlands and the late Robert R. Rowlands. Mike attended Schuyler Avenue Elementary School, Regis Academy, and was a graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School, all in Kingston. He attended Wilkes University and Penn State University, Main Campus, and was currently employed by Price Chopper, Edwardsville, while pursuing his degree.  Mike was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola parish, Kingston. He was an avid fan of the  New York Giants and enjoyed spending time with family.  In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anastasia “Betty”  Van Brunt. Surviving besides his mother are his brothers and sisters; Robert M. Rowlands , Biddeford, Maine; Mary E. Modrow, and her husband, Daniel, Larksville; Joseph J. Rowlands, Kingston; Anne Gavrish, and her husband , George, Kingston; and David J. Rowlands, Luzerne; a nephew and two nieces; Evan and Eva Gavrish, and Lily Modrow; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral for Michael will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. from the Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 416 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 N. Maple Avenue, Kingston, with Rev. Joseph D. Verespy  as celebrant. Internment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations in Mike’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 71 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18701.
