Paul Dalton Griesmer MD of Jensen Beach, Florida and formerly of Kingston Pa. passed away on July 3, 2021.
Born and raised in Kingston Pennsylvania, he attended Kingston public schools through 8th grade and graduated high school from Wyoming Seminary in 1943. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy in World War II and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After working for Prudential Insurance, he attended Wilkes College to satisfy science requirements for admission to Jefferson Medical College where he graduated in 1954 and was awarded 8 of the 21 academic honors given to that graduating class.
He did his internship at Wilkes Barre General hospital and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Misercordia Hospital in Philadelphia. He returned to Wyoming Valley where he lived in Wyoming and subsequently in Kingston. He became a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and practiced medicine for almost 40 years before retiring in 1996 and moving to Florida.
He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Beta Gamma Sigma, the Quarter Deck Society and the varsity swimming team at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and Phi Beta Pi at Jefferson Medical College.
He is predeceased by his parents Paul J. Griesmer and Marie Dalton Griesmer and his wife, Barbara Boyd Griesmer. He is survived by his son Paul Boyd Griesmer and his wife Diane of Natick Massachusetts, and three daughters, Betsey Radcliffe and her husband John of Wayne, Pennsylvania, Jamie Evans and her husband Robert of Wyomissing Pennsylvania and Mariana Knittle of Chicago Illinois, in addition to eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visiting hours are 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at Hugh P. Boyle and Son Funeral Home Inc. at 416 Wyoming Avenue Kingston, Pa.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at St. Ignatius Church located on North Maple Avenue in Kingston, Pa. Internment will follow the Mass of Christian burial and be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township, Pa.
